Dear Parent,
Each week a child is selected to contribute snacks for the class. Please help your child fill our snack sack. Please provide individually-wrapped snacks for 20 children for each day of your assigned week. Also, kindly send in only 20 small (8 ounce) bottles of water. Please (no aqua pods or squirt top bottles). They will be washed out each day & refilled so that they can be re-used for that entire week and discarded on Friday. We have peanut & all tree nut allergies as well as an egg allergy. If eggs are in baked goods it is fine for the student to eat. Thank you for your generosity. I will update the snack list as the year progresses. Hi, families!
This week in math we worked on classifying objects (sorting). Read the observations our students made in their sorting dilemma. I type exactly what they say, so please enjoy. Also, please read the Fundations Letter about Unit 1 of our phonics program. -We had a great first week of kindergarten. The kids are getting to know each other and school routines. I am sure they come home exhausted! Here are a few updates...
Adorable story...I told the kids,"We have a dilemma. I don't like rules." I had 17 little faces looking at me with shock and utter confusion. I told them that rules say all the things you can't do, and that our classroom family needs to create important things that help our days run smoothly. However, we must agree that they are important and that we will follow them. The kids created Essential Agreements...BE SAFE. BE READY. BE KIND. We refer to them many times to guide our behavior and our decisions. -Kindergarten has a new policy of no birthday treats, so our class will sing Happy Birthday and give the student a birthday crown to wear. -Monday we will begin our phonics program, Fundations. -The kids tell me when they teach you something we've learned in class. Thank you for letting them be your teacher. It fills them with pride! |
